As the city of Visaginas was being built, people of various nationalities and religious beliefs came to live there. One such community is the Old Believers, whose number is around 200 people.

The community was officially registered only in 2006, but until 2012 it did not have its own prayer house. Until then, Old Believers from Visaginas attended prayer houses in Dūkštas, Turmantas, and Zarasai.

When the community celebrated its 10th anniversary, a plot of land was allocated at 23B Taikos Avenue for the construction of a prayer house. In 2018, on the outskirts of the city, in a forested area, construction of the wooden Holy Trinity Old Believers’ prayer house began.

During the construction of the city, a temporary settlement for builders was established in this area, consisting of trailers and wooden houses.
