“BACH IN JAZZ” – KĘSTUTIS VAIGINIS INTERNATIONAL QUARTET IN VISAGINAS
On October 28, the Kęstutis Vaiginis International Quartet returns to Visaginas. At 19:00, the VKC “Draugystė” stage will host the concert “Bach in Jazz”, bringing together the music of the renowned German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach and original compositions by Kęstutis Vaiginis.
After the quartet’s first concert in Visaginas, many listeners asked whether the musicians would return. The answer is yes. This time, Kęstutis Vaiginis brings together an international team of musicians, each of whom is not only an outstanding performer but also a distinctive composer. Their creative dialogue will give Vaiginis’ original music new colours, sounds and possibilities for improvisation.
The concert programme will bring together the heritage of classical music and jazz improvisation. J. S. Bach’s works will be interpreted through the language of jazz, alongside original compositions by Kęstutis Vaiginis.
Kęstutis Vaiginis is one of Lithuania’s most prominent jazz saxophonists and composers. His music has travelled far beyond Lithuania: together with various ensembles, he has performed his compositions in the Netherlands, Spain, France, the USA, Germany, Turkey, Brazil, India, South Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia, Scotland and other countries.
This time, Vaiginis will be joined by three internationally acclaimed musicians: Israeli guitarist Shachar Elnatan, Polish double bassist Michał Barański and Italian drummer Giuseppe “Joe” Santoro.
